With minimalist aesthetics and a pared-down palette, this haven of calm in Cape Town’s inner-city suburb of Oranjezicht features in our #SummerIssue on shelf now.
Sanet Coetzee, co-owner of VM Central and Olive studio has created a tranquil space of her two-beroomed Art Deco apartment in Oranjezicht with an abundance of indoor greenery, and sweeping views of Table Mountain. Attention was paid to opening up the space, whilst retaining separate areas with metal and glass interior doors. Also defining the space are large, bold dark furniture pieces – ‘a brave move for a small apartment’ says Sanet.
We combined austerely dark-stained wooden floors and empty white walls with sumptuous fabrics, which creates the feeling that you could just as easily be in Paris, Tokyo or Helsinki.
Sanet says ‘I love to spend large blocks of time at home, like an entire Saturday doing nothing but pottering about’…and who wouldn’t if home was a serene sanctuary far from the madding Summer crowds?
From the sweeping views of Table Mountain to the abundance of indoor greenery, tranquility permeates each corner
