We’ve all seen Prada’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection going 50s with vintage style prints and colours. Now Prada has teamed up with illustrator Armenian-born and Paris-based artist Vahram Muratyan, who created a series of 12 animated gifs, showcasing the new partnership. To see these animated posters (please, you simply must see) have a look on the official website here.

We love Muratyan’s book Paris vs New York,  a tale of two cities which features modern graphic illustrations of two of the world’s most wonderful cities.

The illustrations highlight the parallels between Paris and NYC. What we loved and what inspires us most is how Muratyan combines color. Looking more closely at his colours, we got excited about putting together color inspiration palettes to use on walls and in rooms. (See our sidebars to the right of the illustrations. If you like those colours, go match them to colours from Plascon and paint a room. Or a something.)

Prada has transferred the graphics from this virtual series onto unisex Prada t-shirts, launched last month in stores.

If these combinations gladden your eye, go match them with colours from the Plascon paint collection. Do you enjoy keeping an eye on colour and how it’s being used in new ways? Check out Plascon’s 2013 Colour Forecast which officially launches this week, Wednesday 8 August, at Decorex Joburg and the Plascon Trend Talk at Freeworld Design Centre in Cape Town. You’ll find a taster on on the future of colour in 2013 on www.plascontrends.co.za– the Plascon colour trends blog.

The Freeworld event will be held in conjunction with Design Dialogue, which Plascon will be presenting together with Decorex. At Design Dialogue, USA-based Leatrice Eiseman – who heads up the Pantone Colour Institute – will talk on colour trends and endorse the Plascon 2013 Colour Forecast.
