Why is fashion important? Or more so why is good fashion design important? ‘Form follows function’ is a saying traditionally associated with Industrial Design but it is essential to the thinking of modern Fashion Designer too.

Gone are the days of impractical fashion. A great example is the rise of Sport Lux, a practical design aesthetic taking into account human behavioural patterns. Realising the need people have to be active and stylish designers such as Alexander Wang have became a household name.

We as designer and consumers are accountable for our spending behaviour so here are some easy rules to live by 1. Put needs before wants 2. Buy quality over quantity  3. Take care of what you have 4. Choose locally produced clothing 5. Pick natural fibres and most of all support local design!

1. Wash your clothing inside out to reduce fading and damage 2. A cold wash is the environmentally friendly choice with the added value of preserving clothes colour. The recommended maximum is 30 degree or less 3. Never put washing powder directly on clothing 4. Air Dry your clothes inside out to expose them to the disinfecting properties of the sun. 5. Use Fabric Softener to reduce static cling and creases while preventing stretching and fuzzing.
