We at DECO are always looking for stylish storage options to help us get organised. We absolutely love these amazing Ashanti Design hand-woven storage options.
Ashanti specialises in contemporary African homeware, styled and curated to the sophisticated standards of western and urban aesthetics.
Most famous for their electic Boribori bean bag designs, Ashanti’s new collection not only includes these useful and stylish containers, but also some authentic woven furniture pieces, which have a noveau “Out of Africa” feel that is modern yet familiar to the African eye.
These sustainable and locally produced products are manufactured using natural raw materials.
“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Ashanti is about sophisticated African design and upliftment in impoverished African communities. With a network spanning several countries in Southern Africa, they employ over 2000 people across several villages in rural Africa including local community workers. Ashanti uses this network as an opportunity to actively engage with crafters at a grass roots level.
Founded by Robert Walker, Ashanti Design is a creative design business but it is also one man’s personal journey aiming for the up-skilling of its local weavers, and playing a significant part in employing the local workforce.
These storage options are environmentally friendly and, like every item carrying the Ashanti label, has been sourced and made in Africa. As Henry Ford said “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress; working together is success” and we think this sounds a like a success.
