Moving from the world of fashion to interiors, and from Rome to Malmö, Sweden, Malin Persson’s vision for an overlooked, crumbling villa proves that any décor idea, no matter how adventurous, is possible. In our current issue, we get a guided tour.

After a successful modelling career in Rome for fifteen years, Malin and her family moved to Sweden looking for peace, nature and a break from the city. There they fell in love with a house built in 1908, needing extensive renovations and refurbishing, both inside and out.

The original façade was restored, lead windows renovated, ceiling refurbished stucco reconstructed, and every detail down to brass knobs on the radiators painstakingly thought through. You can see the full feature in #Ideas101, on shelf now, to appreciate how the hard work paid off beautifully for this family home.

The inspector said, ‘tear this sh*t down and build a new one’, but by then we had already fallen in love, says Malin.
