As seen in our Trends Issue, greenery and all things green are a growing passion. Elle Decoration’s guest blogger Jaco Janse van Rensburg takes us on a quick visual tour of evocative green scenes – both inside and out.

Says Jaco: ‘Green and grey is not a combination that gets used often, but I was surprised when I went through some of my travel albums to see the perfect marriage of slate and moss, steel and fern, cloudy sky and swaying palms.’

‘These images were from on a recent trip to the lush island of Reunion. The botanical garden was an absolute find and I spent an afternoon gazing at hundreds of shades of green. Volcanic rock is used extensively and  contrasts beautifully with the tropical flora.’
‘Imagine my surprise when I glanced around my studio and saw the scatter (Woolworths range by Design Team) on my couch. Suddenly the Diptyque candle and staghorn plant on my mantlepiece took on a new meaning.’
Bring some smoldering island mood to your home with green accents against a grey backdrop. Think grey walls, cool slate, lush houseplants and ‘green’ scents like fig.
