Indigi stand with beautiful wallpapers

Two weeks ago, 6-10 August, South Africa witnessed the inaugural showing of 100% Design alongside Decorex Joburg.

It was truly one of the best curated exhibitions I have seen lately, a huge success, showing off the best of our young design industry’s product designers and crafters. It was also an exciting and hip meeting place for everybody in the design and decor business.

Curators Cathy O’Clery and Laurence Brick drew in a fascinating mix of South African and international content. For the first time South African designers were standing alongside top international brands and in my opinion were the heroes that stole the show. I might be slightly prejudice, but when I saw Ronel Jordaan’s felt puff chair standing next to classics like the Eames and Heatherwicks of this world, I knew where the real gravitas was. The beaded chairs from West Africa looked like virginal brides about to take their first step onto the global platform…

I am not a good photographer, but I took some snapshots just to remind myself of everything I saw, and I thought I’d share these with you here…
