Here it comes again… a showcasing of stellar international design ideas along with South Africa’s top creative talents at the Design Indaba 2013. Taking place at the CTICC in Cape Town this week, creativity of all sorts will reign. From decor to fashion to industrial design Design Indaba has it all. Pushing boundaries has never been a problem when it comes to South African design but with the 2014 title of World Design Capital on the horizon, creativity is at an all time high. Playing host to not only well known favourites but also to a range of emerging new artists, variety and inspiration will certainly astound.

With all this talk of design it is only fitting to add that, of course, Elle Decoration will be at the Design Indaba Expo. While making sure you keep a look out for us, or even just popping past for a hello, here are a few of the designers we will be keeping our eyes on.

Specialising in creating incredible imagery for interiors, Robin Sprong wallpaper makes a statement. RS Wallpaper represents South African designers and illustrators alike whose work is produced onto a wide assortment of digitally printable materials. The original Cape Town concrete range is perfect for adding a raw, industrial feel to your home.

Drawing inspiration from nature, sculptor Pamela Schroeder of aboda creates delicately textured items representative of Africa. Elements including tableware and hand made porcelain items are gilded in silver, brass and copper. This year Pamela will not only be displaying her own collection but also her collaborative project ‘High Tea’ with porcelain ceramicist Sandy Godwin . Exploring the fusion of metal and porcelain, the range makes for an interesting and beautiful collection. Sandy Godwin’s  bowls are all indiviually thrown on a wheel and glazed with lace, enhancing the delicacy and uniqueness of each piece.
