With over 7000 visitors visiting the initial Make It New exhibition at the Cape Town Stadium earlier this month, the CCDI saw the value of extending the show so that many more Capetonians and visitors to our city can enjoy this showcase of local design and craft talent.
For those who visited Make It New exhibition at the stadium, new and exciting products and collaborations await at the Watershed…
Some of these include:
- A “living chandelier” installation – a collaboration between Opus Studio (hanging gardens) and Hoi P’Loy (lighting).
- A large wall covering of Marsi Van Den Heuvel’s artwork entitled “The Earth” created by Robin Sprong Wallpaper .
- The new signature Corkabitation furniture collection – a collaborative project between Wiid Design and dhk architects, supported by Amorim Cork and [o]bject House.
- Two glorious chandeliers designed by Adam Hoets entitled Geometric Storm and Mandala from Willowlamp’s latest lighting collection.
The exhibition, featuring the work of almost 200 designers and craft producers from all over the Western Cape, is a striking showcase of contemporary items that explore the local design language and re-visit the the long established in a totally new way by making it new.

It is well worth a visit.
