Anyone who enjoys design will know that yummy textiles abound on the Marimekko website. This iconic Finnish company has been going strong since 1951, and is not afraid to push boundaries with their large repeats and strong images. I picked out some of my favourites here:


Siirtolapuutarha is Finnish for ‘allotment’, and those are the urban gardens full of flowers that designer Maija Louekari must have been thinking about when she came up with this cheerful design.

Designed by Kristina Isola, this fabric, called Metsänväki is dedicated to the lovely trees and bushes of the designer’s native Finland.


Ginkgo is another lovely design from Kristina Isola, whose plant-themed patterns play a prominent part in Marimekko’s fabric collection.
