We can’t get France off our minds.

Elle Decoration Editor Laureen Rossouw is heading to Europe for an Elle DECORATION conference in a few days.

And now’s the time for our annual global fest. See our INTERNATIONAL 25th BIRTHDAY ISSUE – currently in stores – and have a look at two of our favourite French interiors.

So shall we eat birthday cake at Versailles? Why not.

Once again this year, Versailles has been consumed by Modernism at the annual exhibition, Le Château de Versailles, showcasing installations by artist Joana Vasconcelos.

Versailles has seen plenty of modernity on palace grounds. From Sofia Coppola’s film Marie Antoinette, to this year’s larger-than-life installations by Vasconcelos, on show till 30 September 2012.

Below, some visuals showing how the dreamy palais is captured through modern eyes: Joana Vasconcelos’ story-telling installation art, and an Annie Liebovitz shoot featuring characters from Marie Antoinette the movie.

Feast up.
