Strauss & Co is thrilled to reveal key appointments to its Board and panel of art experts, reinforcing the robust legacy of founding managing director, Stephan Welz, who passed on late last year.
Succeeding Elisabeth Bradley‘s retirement as Chairman, Frank Kilbourn has filled the position of Executive Chairman of Strauss and Co, and becomes a member of the Board with immediate effect. This esteemed businessman and art collector is furthermore the co-founder of Bright Foundation, a PBO (Public Benefit Organisation) committed to the progression of arts and culture.
Moreover, the Board of Strauss & Co is delighted to proclaim that Carmen Welz has joined the Board of Directors. It is a crucial designation that will guarantee that the incalculable legacy of her late husband, Stephan Welz, lives on.
Further additions to the Strauss & Co family include Wilhelm van Rensburg and Marion Dixon. They both hold Master’s degrees in the History of Art, and have been appointed as art experts based at the Johannesburg office. Van Rensburg is an independent art curator who has also, for the past ten years, served as the co-director of Art on Paper (AOP), a popular gallery in Johannesburg. Marion Dixon led a fruitful career in public relations spanning 25 years, with her last engagement being that of a Communication Manager Media at Anglo American. Thereafter she passionately pursued her long-held interest in the visual arts.
Kilbourn closes, “With the recent appointments, the company has not only provided for succession, but also ensured that it has the skills and energy necessary to maintain its leadership in the market.”
