norval foundation

The Norval Foundation opened last month to much fanfare, and for good reason.

The monumental new art museum faces the Steenberg Mountains and lies against a carefully preserved wetland, one of whose well-known inhabitants is the western leopard toad. The structure itself is no mean feat, and boasts nine state-of-the-art galleries and extensive storage vaults for the art collection of the visionary behind it all, property magnate Louis Norval.
norval foundationIn our June issue, we looked closer at the breathtaking Norval Foundation. Watch below as we talk to the people who helped to bring the Norval Foundation to life. Senior curator, Karel Nel, curators Owen Martin and Khanyisile Mbongwa and executive director Elana Brundyn share with us the creative process behind the museum, as well as excites them most about the current local design scene.
