Yesterday we took a trip out of Cape Town to this year’s Kamersvol Geskenke at Lourensford Estate in Somerset West.

What caught our eye there? Well, after admiring the stunning massed flower arrangements in French floral artist Claire Basler’s studio (yesterday’s blogpost), the collections of vases and imaginative receptacles for displaying flowers, by Okasie, were top of our hit parade. (Okasie is that now quite famous crew of flower artists from Stellenbosch.)

Kamersvol Geskenke – Afrikaans for ‘rooms full of gifts’ – is a creative feast of handmade products: a gargantuan show of home, decor, gifts, interior and garden inspiration for living well. ‘Kamers’ is something of an understatement: each ‘room’ is more like a big top tent than a 3mX4m boudoir. It’s all for the taking, so don’t leave home without your pocket money – and a map. Last month Kamersvol went to Bloemfontein, and from 25 Nov – 1 Dec, the show will be in Pretoria. This week it belongs to the Cape, until Saturday.
