One of the oldest and most revered pastry shops in Milan, the Pasticceria Marchesi, recently expanded with a new store which remains absolutely faithful in tradition and quality to it’s 191 year old forebear. With the powerhouse Prada Group now working with the original family owners at the Marchesi, the new store is an exquisite mix of heritage with a fresh, refined interior that looks good enough to eat itself.
Since opening doors in 1824, Pasticceria Marchesi has served up handmade fine pastries, sugar coated candies, bon-bons, chocolatés, pralines and cakes of the highest quality. These time-honored traditional creations are still available in the new Pasticceria Marchesi pastry shop, along with an expanded offering of these celebrated handmade products housed in cherry wood and glass cabinets.
Quality is what is popular a hundred years later. – Marty Rubin
With chocolate brown marble underfoot and a strikingly lit beamed ceiling up above, architect Roberto Baciocchi ensured the new store respected it’s long-standing celebrated history whilst incorporating a fresh, refined modern atmosphere. A central marble-topped bar displays an array of classical aperifitfs and champagne to be enjoyed in green velvet armchairs in intimate seating rooms. Who could possibly conjure up a more elegant space in which to celebrate a history of quality and enjoy a decadent glass of bubbles and handcrafted pastry?
