Our new Style Directory – on shelf now –  is packed with tips and ideas for every room, including ideas for your next kitchen renovation, as well as the most coveted decor contacts from our little black book. Here online, we curate the very best bits.

Blending form with function and blurring the line between utilitarian and decorative, the kitchen is where performance and aesthetics combine at the heart of every home – which is why getting your next kitchen renovation right is really imperative for the overall style of your home.

Kitchens are the new living rooms. Playing host to a constant stream of activity: from cooking to entertaining and working to playing. Ideal for open plan living, the new ‘hidden kitchen’ is all about concealing everything, while remaining practical and keeping all of the essentials within arm’s reach.

One of the biggest trends in kitchen design is the shift from a purely utilitarian workspace to a social living room – the hub of the home. The key to modern kitchens is to have open-plan design with integrated, multi-purpose islands. Traditional lines are also combined with sizzling contemporary style, making kitchen appliances look more like furniture.

To make your next kitchen renovation the envy of your friends, you’ll need to get familiar with our favourite kitchen suppliers, hand-picked from our Editor’s Little Black Book, and the best contacts you’ll need to create the kitchen of your dreams.

  1. Hi Lucie

I think in the above article you missed informing the consumer about the most important thing – contacting the Kitchen Specialists Association before you even start. The KSA is the only industry body that exists for the kitchen industry and its members are the only players in the kitchen industry that choose to be held accountable by the KSA for their workmanship and service. In shorts, appointing a KSA registered kitchen company is the only safety net that exists for consumers to help them should things go wrong on site and to check that the company in question is stable and in good industry standing.
