Paper/Plant Series by Martina Lang

Photographer and art director, Martina Lang, playfully takes us on a hide and seek adventure as she explores her Paper/Plant Series collaboration. Both graphic and colourful, we simply couldn’t resist…

Born and bred in rural Bavaria, Germany, Martina graduated with honours in photography in Stuttgart. Eventually she moved to London, England on a scholarship and finished her Masters in Communication Design at Central Saint Martins University. Now, focusing on her career as a photographer as well as being an art director, she creates intriguing artworks inspired by graphic and photo design influence.

Playful plants emerge on a colourful, graphic hide-and-seek adventure.

What stories do your photographs tell?

“More than anything I identify with the profession of a storyteller. My work is about any subject and object that fascinates me. The underlying tone tends to be a humorous way to look at the world.”

– Uprise Art Interview with Martina Lang

Uprise Art chatted to Martina Lang about what inspires her and she explained how she has always been fascinated by how the brain works and functions. “Often I end up reading several books at a time (currently five), they merge in my head and create new links and stories: some weird, some wonderful, some simply obscure.”

Her latest, Paper/Plant Series, was exhibited until November 2015 throughout the East London Photomonth. It was also showcased at New York-based gallery, Uprise Art.

I love visual storytelling with a humorous approach, and try to capture this within photography.
