Our intrepid intern, Anna Raimondo was out and about for us last week:
Last Thursday saw the re-opening of The Fringe Arts Pop-Up shop at the Alfred Mall, V&A Waterfront. As usual, the owners Chantal Louw and Thessa Bos created a bang by hosting the first solo exhibition by artist Keri Muller, called Book Paper Scissors.
‘Learn to Read & Write: Jane, 1961’ – Keri Muller
With her 3D, hand cut paper artworks, Keri draws her inspiration from times past. Using found objects liberated from a dusty existence, she invites us on a journey of nostalgia. She describes herself as “Treasure hunter, hoarder, artist, maker of stuff, collector, browser, day dreamer, walker, traveller. I’m a lover of all things old and new, colour, design, paper and carefully crafted moments.”
In the other half of the space you will find The Fringe Arts’ shop – a curated collection of over 70 South African designers, crafters and artists. This unique space, gives the shopper an authentic African experience without becoming another African themed shop.
Go check out this shop-come-gallery space that also stocks other artists such as Wolmer, Skinny laMinx, SMITH Jewellery, Dale Yudelman, Dolly Dinkel, Tamarillo, Gwen loves Harold, Lauren Fowler, Inkheart and many more.
