It’s time to celebrate the festive season and the end of another (hopefully) successful year and what better way to do that than with a cheeky G&T in your hand? We’ve got all your gin needs sorted for December with this limited edition Hope on Hopkins Christmas gin pack.
The local craft gin scene has grown exponentially over the last two years, so there’s no excuse to drink imported brands from overseas anymore. Hope on Hopkins, South Africa’s first artisanal distillery is run by husband-and-wife duo Lucy Beard and Leigh Lisk and makes gins that highlight everything the abundant Western Cape has to offer, while still retaining the integrity of the spirit itself.
Their classic range includes the London dry, which is a nod to classic the London style of gin with rosemary, lemon and juniper flavours; the Salt River, with notes of kapokbos and buchu; and the Mediterranean, which is infused with olives, rosemary, basil and thyme. They also make a local agave spirit (which, because of the international denomination of origin, they legally aren’t allowed to call a tequila) and a small batch vodka.
They’ve now expanded their niche range of gin, however, for a limited time only, with their Hope on Hopkins Christmas gin pack. Designed and distilled especially for the Christmas season these limited batch gins are filled with a range of Christmas spices. Fragrant Gold is infused with orange, cinnamon and nutmeg and has been gently aged; Frankincense is dominated by real frankincense as its signature botanical and has intensely smoky notes with toasted cinnamon, coriander and cumin; and Myrrh is rather mysterious, with Christmas tree notes and cloves, allspice and star anise. You can incorporate them into your festive cocktail (Frankincense French 75 anyone?) or you can drink them the good old fashioned way, with tonic.
However you choose to enjoy these gins, they are designed to ensure that everyone has a merry Christmas indeed.
The Hope on Hopkins Christmas gin pack is available at the distillery or via The Gin Box.
