This is such a whacky idea, but rather a nice one: Designer Matthew Burke (he doesn’t have a website) has made the Japan Cuttingboard, and as the name might suggest, it’s an oak chopping board, made in the shape of Japan.

And as if that wasn’t charmingly odd enough, he’s engineered it so that when you hang it up, it falls in the exact position in which the island is on a map.


I reckon we should have South African cuttingboards too, reserved for cutting that local favourite of ours – biltong! Come to think of it, Japan looks just a bit like a piece of biltong, doesn’t it?
