One artist on whom everyone should have their eye?

I‘m currently loving Ruby Swinney‘s work as well as Peju Alatise from Nigeria. Also, after seeing his work at the Venice Biennale this year, I‘m in love with Mohau Modisakeng.

An important part of your everyday style?

Versatility – an outfit that can see me at the office, an event or even at a dinner. I don‘t wear many accessories, but a hat is a daily staple.

Right now, you’re inspired by?

Creative storytellers – all the self-published writers, photographers and moving-picture makers documenting the hopeful, creative and thriving side of our African narrative.

The designers with whom you would most like to have lunch?

Interior designer Donald Nxumalo, fashion designer Nicholas Coutts, Mzukisi Mbane of IMPRINT, fragrance designer Agata Karolina of House of Gozdawa, Namnyak Odupoy and the rest of Mille Collines crew – it would be an eclectic lunch with characters who interest me.

Favourite furniture item you own?

It‘s hard to pick just one but I have two of the 1929 Barcelona chairs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe – these are timeless features.

What’s on your fashion wish list?

I’m always looking for a new hat to add to my collection. I would love to own one by Albertus Swanepoel in New York. Also, a Row-G made-to-measure suit.

The first fragrance you owned?

Chrome by Azzaro.

The fashion collection that changed your life?

Recently, during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town, I was transfixed by Adama Paris’s showing and the Gucci 2017 pre- fall campaign, ‘Soul Scene’, is really captivating.

The person who has most influenced your career? Tom Ford – because he really cares and wants to excel at anything he gets involved in. He has mastered every genre or industry he has entered and that inspires and influences how I perceive my multifaceted career.
