Renee Rossouw, architect, DECO contributor and LIKE IDEA blogger, has created a tiny and colourful cacti display in her inner city loft apartment. The impressively tall and towering angular Art Deco window bay has become the perfect spot for this tiny display with a mighty view over Cape Town’s Grand Parade, 50 meters above ground – perhaps the city’s highest little indoor urban garden.
“The succulents in the large container were bought from a homeless man in Longstreet – the first of my collection. The other large cactus I bought at the Milnerton Market for R20! The small cacti were a Christmas gift from my sister Laura – she painted the containers in my favourite colours.”
See the little city jungle on wheels, and watch this space for more small-scale urban gardens. Next up is Sven Alberding’s tropical hothouse plant collection. We’d love to see your mini gardens and green ideas. Send them in!
