We are incredibly proud of South Africa’s platform for collectable contemporary design, Southern Guild as it makes its European debut at Design Miami/Basel, June 11-16 taking place Süd, Messe Basel, Messeplatz, Basel, Switzerland.

Founded in 2008 as a showcase for exceptional South African design, Southern Guild will present work by 16 leading South African designers and artists including  collaborative pieces by Gregor Jenkin, and world renowned artist William Kentridge; a hanging leather nest which continues Porky Hefer’s exploration of human scale bird’s nests; a hand-painted Beech cabinet by young design studio Dokter and Misses, investigating a contemporary African aesthetic; and an abstract console by artist Dylan Lewis, inspired by monumental landscape

Dedicated to stimulating local design industry and to encouraging designers and artists to explore and produce more challenging and important work, Southern Guild has become an internationally recognized name representing excellence and authenticity. Showcasing the work of some of the most renowned names in the country, and cultivating the careers of emerging contemporary designers, the platform aims to enlighten the world market about all the exciting new work that is coming our of South Africa.
