Keen for a little insider information from some of South Africa’s most stylish personalities? We’re on it. Today we give you a voyeuristic look inside the covetable life of Jenna McArthur. After six years in the fashion and media industries, Jenna started her own PR agency, Jenna McArthur PR.
My passion lies in creating and building communities around fashion, lifestyle and luxury brands, both online and offline. At the heart of my philosophy are personal communication and generating curated and relevant content for brands.
We asked Jenna for her style secrets…
My style is classic and minimalist, but a little like my personality I like to throw-in a bit of the unexpected from time to time – that’s what this faux fur jacket gives over the metallic tee
Favourite Perfume: Gypsy Water from Byredo
Favourite Local Shop: KLuK CGDT’s new flagship store at 43-45 Bree street. Their new three-storey building is filled with designs from the talented designer duo, as well as unique homeware and art. The bridal room is my highlight – beautiful designs hang elegantly in a white and light room – the entire KLuK CGDT experience is dreamy.
Favourite Shop Abroad: & Other Stories.
Best place for Shoes: I buy most of my heels when I travel – to hunt for that pair of heels that is unique and one of a kind is well worth the wait. When I opt for flats – I shop online at cinshoes.co.za.
Top item on your fashion wishlist?
I spotted a black leather fringed ankle-length skirt at Witchery – it was love at first sight.
Favourite Cocktail: I don’t do cocktails, but I love a glass of Haute Cabriere Chardonnay Pinot Noir.
Favourite Restaurant: The Duchess of Wisbeach in Sea Point. The food is simply sensational. It’s all about the drama at this quaint spot.
Favourite Bar: I recently went to Saint-Tropez and found the coolest bar with amazing music– White 1921. In Cape Town, Bascule Whisky and Wine bar at the Cape Grace hotel is a must.
Favourite Hotel: if you’re looking for a beautiful summer spot in Cape Town, Cape View Clifton is lovely. It’s a luxury guesthouse with beautiful interiors and breathtaking views of Clifton. In London, I love staying at The Charlotte Street Hotel. It’s quaint and full of character and so close to some of London’s best eateries, bars and cafés.
Favourite Spa: Camelot Spa at The Table Bay Hotel. I love that in winter you can indulge in their high tea and champers after your treatment, or in summer enjoy a massage and then spend the day at their rooftop pool.
Caterer: I’m obsessed with the miniature cakes by Martin Senekal. If I have a dinner party, Martin’s cakes and macaroons are the perfect sweet treats to call in.
Florist: The flowers outside of Giovanni’s in Greenpoint are beautiful and fresh. I love their selection – this weekend I bought a bunch of flowering cabbages. Blooms complete any space.
Best Decor Shop: Free Range Trading in the Natal Midlands has beautiful linens and great items to dress a space. I also love Cecile & Boyd – their pieces are bold and tell a story.
What’s on your decor wishlist? I love this leather chandelier from Highthorn– it is so dramatic and it’s made in South Africa. How grand?
What are you reading: I loved An Education, written by Lynn Barber, so I’m giving her latest memoir, A Curious Career, a go and it is fantastic!
