BONUS RECIPE: In an on-brand move by the king of all things fabulous, David Tlale has his own cocktail now. The Courvoisier® Noir is the third in a series of cognac cocktails crafted by mixologist Devin Cross in honour of some of South Africa’s favourite people – Bonang Matheba, Tbo Touch and now David Tlale. Cross combined cinnamon, orange, cherry and Courvoisier® VSOP for an unconventional taste experience. According to Tlale, the cocktail is best served in a luxurious 1920’s style couplette champagne glass, personifying the joie de vivre associated with Paris’ Golden Age. It’s available exclusively at Asanka Restaurant, but you can make one at home with this recipe.
