Get ready for another Cape Town City Hall invasion with the third Toffie Pop Culture Festival and Conference taking place from Friday 30 March to Sunday 1 April. Toffie Pop is a three-day creative mash-up of contemporary popular culture, design, music, magazine publishing, art, sound design and more.

More than 60 of the world’s best designers, artists, musicians, film directors, magazine editors and publishers have been confirmed as speakers and exhibitors, including Penny Martin (Editor-in-Chief of The Gentlewoman), Roel Wouters (Film director and designer from the Netherlands), Omar Sosa (Spanish Art director, publisher and graphic designer of Apartamento magazine), The Mingarro brothers (Brosmind Studio in Barcelona), Malibongwe Tyilo (SA Fashion buyer, scenester and skattiewhatareyouwearing blogger) and Athi-Patra Ruga (Well-known South African performance and contemporary artist).

Toffie Pop will also be celebrating the competitive spirit of the upcoming London Olympics with a creative showdown of our own – a laptop Olympics. Six teams from Argentina, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK, Spain and South Africa will compete in a series of challenges scattered throughout the festival.


Noticed the growing number of red cut-outs around Cape Town? Toffie Pop’s bold poster designs double up as a street art kit. The shapes on the posters can be cut out and the best street art submission will win two tickets to Toffie Pop worth R1500 in total.
